Have you ever been to Tapopo?
Tapopo section of the Ramu Madang highway is a muddy stretch of about 3 miles uphill on both sides of the summit. Tapopo Primary School is at the base of this nightmare of a road. Some vehicles have skidded Off the road into the trenches when trying to navigate down the slippery decent. Passengers willingly push the buses and light vehicles when it gets bogged down and the Works excavator is around to help during the maintenance.
The hard part of the journey is not so much pushing and pulling your ride that’s the fun part: it’s the waiting and queing up that makes people frustrated.
The best part is meeting up with your country man and woman. Here there are no walls. Everyone has a common goal of getting through and making it home. And then the stories begin. What’s yours?
